Congratulations to our new set of Board of Directors for 2010-2011!

Last Friday, 5th February, the UPAA-UAE held its General Assembly and Elections of the new set of officers for the Association. Our new Board of Directors are as follows:

President : Mr. Earl Palacios (Abu Dhabi)

Vice President & Logisitcs : Mr. Boyet Damot (Dubai)

Secretary & MemCom : Ms. Emily Gonzales (Dubai)

Treasurer : Ms. Marietta "Ayet" Morada (Abu Dhabi)

Publicity & head of PubCom : Mr. Art Simplina (Dubai)

Cultural Committee head : Ms. Chesca Montinola (Dubai)

Education Committee head : Mr. Achilles "Aki" Cortes (Abu Dhabi)

Events Committee head : Mr. Eric Paras (Dubai)

Special Projects Committee : Mr. Galo Calizo (Dubai)

Ways & Means Committee : Mr. Joel Gonzales (Dubai)

Let us support the Association by being part of a committee and help out in any way we can.

Philippine Ambassador to the UAE, Her Excellency Grace Prinseca challenged UPians in the UAE not to forget our duty as Iskolars ng Bayan and to give back to the country, particularly to UP, whatever help we can extend. She paid her membership dues and took oath as a new UPAA-UAE member on the same occasion. Taking her as an example, let us all follow and be true to the lines of our hymm, "malayong lupain, amin mang marating, di rin magbababgo ang damdamin".

What is UPAA-UAE?

We are a non-stock, non-profit organization but occasionally host income-generating activities to support out objective which are:

* support UP to fulfill its academic mission as a world-class institution for tertiary education;

* help UP in its vital role in the development of Philippine society and the Filipino nation;

* help establish and efficient placement bureau to assist UP alumni in seeking gainful employment where their professional competence is most suited; and,

* spearhead academic, social, cultural and civic events in the UAE in line with the University's mission and vision.

We…voluntarily unite ourselves…in order to strengthen our capacity to support the efforts of the University in maintaining its world-class standing in the global community of institutions of higher learning.

We…have been formed to assist the University of the Philippines…in its academic, social and civic responsibilities not only at home but also here in the UAE…
